Why we built Garivio POS

All posts

Most point-of-sale software is built for the back office. It’s organised around reports, settings and edge cases — the things a manager checks once a week — and treats the actual moment of service, the thing that happens a thousand times a day, as an afterthought. You feel it the second a venue gets busy: a cluttered screen, slow taps, and the person at the till fighting the tool instead of looking after the guest in front of them.

We think that’s backwards. A point of sale should be built around the rush.

Optimise for the busiest ten minutes, not the demo

Any till looks fine when one person clicks through it slowly. The real test is a full room on a Friday night, a queue at the counter, and three tickets landing at once. That’s the moment we design for: the fewest taps to take an order, no dead ends, and a screen you can read at a glance from across a crowded counter.

The floor has a rhythm — don’t break it

Good service has a flow to it, and software usually interrupts it: a spinner here, a confirmation there, a screen that reloads at the worst possible moment. We work hard to make Garivio POS disappear. Orders fire to the kitchen instantly. The floor plan shows you the room at a glance. Nothing makes you wait that doesn’t have to.

One connected system, not ten disconnected apps

A café shouldn’t need one app for the till, another for the kitchen, another for the floor and a spreadsheet to reconcile it all at midnight. Garivio POS keeps the register, the kitchen, the floor, tables and payments in one place, sharing one set of numbers. When the shift ends, the totals already add up.

Run on the hardware you already own

We don’t sell you a locked-in terminal with a locked-in margin. Garivio POS runs on ordinary Android tablets, works with the printers and drawers you already have, and keeps serving even when the internet doesn’t.

None of this is flashy. It’s the opposite — calm, fast software that gets out of the way. But that’s the whole point. The best compliment a busy floor manager can give a tool is that they stopped noticing it was there.

That’s what we’re building. If it sounds like the till your venue has been missing, book a demo and we’ll set it up live in the browser — in your venue, with your menu.
